Re: Leopard - what does everyone think of it?![]()
Posted by Don Luck on 1/23/08
I have been using Leopard on an Intel iMac and MacBook as well as an older G4
MacBook. There have been a few application hangs but very few. Keeping
current with the software upgrades of both the system and application seem to
help. I run the entire Microsoft Office Suite (not the most recent), Adobe Suite
(CS3) and Apple software and really have very few problems.
I use Time Machine with the iMac and Cover Flow was OK but the new feature
that has helped the most has been Quick Look. I can open a folder of student
work and although they are instructed to always save a file with their name in
the file name they often forget. I can Quick Look through files quickly and find
theirs in a small percentage of time it would take to open one in word.
Spotlight is fast enough to be useful. I avoided it in Tiger but it could be used as
an application starter in Leopard (though I would never give up Butler). Safari's
ability to grab parts of pages and turn them into widgets has left me wanting a
larger screen for more widget space. The built in Dictionary, which also ties to
Wikipedia is nice as is system level spelling and grammar check. Even the Trash
has improved with an Empty Trash button within the directory when you open
the Trash.
One other things that has helped lately, Text Edit will now open the new
Windows Word format.
There were a few things a little different at first but overall it has been a stable
and worthwhile upgrade for me.
