I have a couple of kids that simply will not work. I've tried everything all year. Now I have no choice but to fail them. I'm at my wit's end.

Yes I have had middle school students who have failed to work. Right now I have some 8th graders who are failing....See More

hmm... Yes. If the parents/admin know what is going on then it will be no surpise to record a failing grade. However peers do influence non workers, to get to work. Kid use the quote to a non worker "how can you fail art?" and then the non worker feels some motivation do some work. So it is a push pull scenario with certain kids.

josie Yes. It is rare (maybe 3 in 20 years?) but we can't reach all of them. I do everything possible to motivate the "unmotivated" but in the end the decision is ultimately theirs.

I am so disappointed with this school year. My kids were the laziest lot I have ever seen. I think I was too soft on them, plus they lacked discipline. I have so few assignments completed. I think I allowed them to talk too much in class and waste time. I know the game now. Next time I'm not allowing any talking in my art classes.It's going to be "...See More
