What do you mean by "cognitive" language processing problems? I have an 8 year old son who is in resource room and very very slowly is improving. He has language processing issues and short term memory issues, dyslexia along with central auditory processing delays, but I've never heard of "cognitive" problems. My son is very smart except for reading. I just was trained in Wilson Reading Program and will be working with him independently of his school on his reading. Like Lindamood, Wilson is very good at controlling and pacing sounds and scaffolding learning progress relatively quickly. In addition, in Sept. he'll have a fantasic resource room teacher and I am hoping it will all come together for him in 3rd grade because the last 3 years have been nerve wracking (for me.)
