Posted by debbie from woodstock, GA on 6/11/07 There is no teacher shortage. I graduated with honors and have a BA, BS, Masters, Gifted, and Reading endorsement. The colleges promote this lie to keep people paying tuition. It's all business, and they use the crock about there being a teacher shortage as the bait to lure more in. I know of so many people who went through the education courses and achieved certification, all to no avail. They are working at jobs they could have gotten without all the time and money they invested in getting certification. People need to start holding the colleges who promote this falsehood accountable. If you graduate with top honors and still can't get a job, the colleges of education should be required to reimburse you. Stacks of applications end up in trash cans because there are more there than any principal wants to sludge through. Don't waste your time and money. Get a degree in something else.
