Re: Teaching Shortage Crock!!!
Posted by L.S on 8/01/08
There are no jobs in Chicago. I have 10 years of experience and a
masters degree. When I got laid off three years ago, it took me a
year and a half to find a job. I got laid off again this June and I
have been looking for a job every day. I drive to schools, I fax
resumes, been to every job fair and talk to other teachers while
standing in line at job fairs. They have all had similar experiences.
This makes me especially angry because the 2 tenured teachers I
worked with last year in the same grade level did almost no work.
They sat around and ate all day and put on a good show whenever an
administrator was around. I worked my butt off because I was so happy
to have a job. And I would do so again if only I could get the chance.
Anyone have any ideas about alternative careers? I have no money to
go back to school.
