I would suggest The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the
Olympians, Book 1) and the series. They put a modern spin on
the Greek Gods in our present world. Pretty interesting and
engaging. Kids seem to love it. Has your nephew read the
whole (Maximum Ride) Series by Patterson? There are a good
number of books in the series.
