Re: Dibels reading assess.
Posted by ellie on 6/05/04

some of my students did so poorly on the dibels test the whole
specials organiztional planning for the school will be changed
so kinders get 90 minutes of continuous literacy time. i see
this as a good thing but feel we are definitely in a teaching to
the test mode. i find this quite sad and when my staff learned
that the scores were low i felt they blamed me. being
developmental ready has flown out the window. most of my
students have made huge jumps in learning and the dibels does
not test that. i am wondering if this is a phase 'the current
trend' or whether new research will lead us down another path.
