It is funny that you ask that question as we were just discussing this at a behavior data meeting at school! Every month our 2nd grade unit gets together with our school psychologist and special educators. We analyze the behavior data we have on students and then collaborate/brainstorm around what can be done to support students. Today a teacher shared a very simple technique. I thought that this would work well for children who just need that extra pat on the back/validation throughout the day. Put a post-it note or scrap of paper on student's desk. During the week, whenever you see that child behaving give that student a star or tally mark. Once they've reached a determined amount they can earn a prize or special privilege!
