The type layers over the background object, or the object itself
can have whit text inside it.
Use Insert - Text Box select the box and right click
choose Format Text box and choose a fill color and opacity,
you can also have a border(bounding box) line or not, of the same
color or not.
Once that's done you can format the color of your text after/as
you type a few lines.
