I think iPhone v. Droid is a question of personal preference.
I have an iPhone and love it. I love the number of Apps that
are available for it (some of which I use in my classroom).
If you get an iPod Touch, you would have a voice recording app
(if you plug in a headset with mic or a separate microphone.
You will not have GPS. You will not have a camera. So I think
the better decision is to get an iPhone 3GS which would have
all of these available to you.
