Post: From Classroom Teacher to Reading Teacher?
Posted by sage&silver on 4/01/08
I am a classroom teacher in a middle school and am
thinking
of getting a degree in literacy to become a reading
teacher.
I'd like to hear from anyone who has made this transition.
1) What are the major differences?
2) Pros and cons?
3) Are you glad you made the change or not, and why?
4) What kind of paperwork are you required to complete?
5) How is a typical day structured?
6) To what extent are you involved in parent conferences?
7) How closely do you work with classroom teachers?
Anything else you want to comment on would be helpful.
What appeals to me most is being able to work with a
smaller group of kids and helping kids develop reading
skills, as it really is the basis for success in all
subjects.
Thanks in advance for your help.
