I have a BA in Psychology and am in the alternative
education program through my state. I had to first get
licensed in MS Social studies (a social science), then I
added Elementary endorsement. I have taken Praxis II in
Elementary content area, so that would make me highly
qualified (?)
Anyway, my problem is that I am having a very hard time
finding a position. Even the school district that is known
for hiring first year and alternativly certified teachers
is laying off teachers. I thought this might be the best
time for me to go ahead and complete a Ed program. The
alternative program requires that I complete a certain
number of education credits before I can get a standard
certificate, so I may as well get the degree.
My question is should I get a second BA in Education or
should I get an MA? My local university only offers the MA
in secondary, but I'm really interested in Elementary. I
would like to also get an MA because I am interested in
Educational leadership. I would appreciate any advice!
