I used WebCT in some depth for until it merged with
Blackboard. I used to berate WebCT because it lacked intuitive
commands and took so many clicks to do something.
I started Blackboard with version 6.2 and we quickly jumped to
7.2. I converted my WebCT stuff to Blackboard 7.2
I would go back to WebCT in a heartbeat. Yes, Blackboard 6.2
was more user friendly, but 7.2 is far from it, IMHO. 7.2 has
some great features, but is confusing and you never really
know what your students are seeing.
WebCT had internal email, test validation, and a number of
other features I really miss.
I taught a fully on-line MBA course in statistics using
eCollege and loved it. Of course, eCollege comes with a course
facilitator to help you build your course. None-the-less, it
was the most user friendly and suited to what I was doing.
I have looked at Moodle, but have not tried it. It is probably
as viable an option as anything right now.
