Our district bought the SpringBoard/CollegeBoard curriculum for mandated use for 6-12 grade. I have now taught it for almost two years. We are using a student-centered approach which I feel has its merits, but very little direct teaching involved. We must teach step-by-step in the workbook. We have walk-thrus by administartion often to see that we are all doing the "same thing". I feel the curriculum is boring the students to death and we are not allowed to deviate from it. We have become robots teaching this curriculum. Does anyone have advice that is familiar with this curriculum? Has anyone had success with SpringBoard? Does anyone else hate it?

My students are far more in need of grammatical conventions and literary enlightenment than instructions in accountable talk and film angles.

Perhaps the best part is the total lack of di...See More

Diane I hate it. With a passion. It's dry, it's tedious, it doesn't flow, the kids hate it, the teachers hate it...Shall I go on?
