Post: Subbing After Retirement

I took an early retirement in 2002 to pursue other
interests but last year went back to the high school I
retired from to sub for a friend. I discovered I still had
the same knack for mixing it up with the kids and enjoying
them - it was an immediate response.

What saddened me was the hightened security and almost
prison like atmosphere. I wonder if this has happened in
many places since 2002 and my sense of what's happening in
our country is that it is happening in other places.
