I would suggest that he look into applying at any corporation
that has GmbH in its name ! or a subsidiary in Germany. An
international corporation may be interested, as would some
legal arms of multinationals (though he'd need to take
specific courses on legal vocabulary not usually taught at
university)...there might be some civil service positions
(translation at a hospital or court) that would also require
specific vocab (medical, etc) if the area where he is living
has a significant population of non-English speakers. If no
jobs are forthcoming, some post grad work in international
relations (poly sci) or taking a year to do 'peace corp' or
an internship in a foreign country may open up new
possibilities as well.
