As a new elementary librarian, I am trying to find some
creative ideas for all grades to participate in. Have any
of you heard of the Book Journeys through Scholastic. Here
is a link above.
Basically you pick a book, put a special printed scholastic
bookplate in the inside cover that has a tracking #, and
send it off to a bookmate. This can be another individual,
a class etc in a different part of the country/world. When
they receive the book, they login the tracking # on the
inside cover through scholastic, read it aloud to a class,
then repeat the steps by sending it to another. The book
won't return back to you, but classes can track where their
book has traveled etc. through scholastic. I would love to
do this with other librarians. I have a K-5 school in WA
state. it would be great to have others join in on the fun.
I'd LOVE to see the books travel far..kids would be so
excited. Anyone interested??? please email me if you would
like to take part. The only thing is that you would pay is
the cost to mail the book. I am going to do 6 books, one
for each grade level, and hopefully send them off to 6
different places. My k-5 classes will love tracking this!
So if interested please email me at
mcrimin#stanwood.wednet.edu. Specify a particular grade you
see in library. Hope this makes sense. Thanks! Molly
