    Post: Thunder from the Sea

    Posted by cam on 7/19/08

The required reading for my incoming 5th graders is Thunder
from the Sea by Joan Hiatt Harlow. Since this is a new book
this year, I purchased it, and will read it shortly. Does
anyone have a literature unit on this book? I found a couple
things online from Scholastic, but nothing "meaty." I'm
looking for something like a quiz or working with the
vocabulary, to use as an assessment on the comprehension
level of my incoming students. For the book of their choice
that they also will read, they will do a book float project
in September (which is always FUN!)so I want to try to
    assess "Thunder" more conventionally.
I could make up a quiz of my own after I read the book, but
if anyone has anything I would be so grateful!
