My daughter (just finished 2nd grade) has devoured the Usborne
version of Shakespeare's plays. It is a compilation book. I
have not read it, but she has read it over, and over, and over
and over until now we need a new copy! She began in first
grade, so the reading level is probably 4/5 grade. I also saw
the graphic novel versions in the kids section at the
bookstore this past week.
Her drama club has done snippets of Romeo and Juliet and A
Midsummer Night's Dream.
Do research on the Globe Theatre, history, etc. I think you
can find enough on Shakespeare and the history/culture and not
have to do a whole play!
