Re: Special ed major teaching in a non-special ed classroom

Not to sound cynical, but good luck with that. Special ed
teachers are high in demand, and once you have the degree the
likeliness of you teaching regular ed is slim to none. I know
several teachers that are special ed, but have applied for
regular ed positions, and were told in different ways they
were over-qualified or the position was closed, or that they
found a different opening they would be better suited for (a
special ed class). Regular ed positions tend to be filled
rather quickly, but this is not always the case for the
special ed positions. I would think your chances of finding a
special ed position is pretty likely.
