I went back to school for my teaching certificate and Masters
in Education all in one shot. I can tell you from experience,
you'll have a better chance of finding work if you get a job
with a BA (or BA+ maybe) than with a Masters. It's hard to
find a job, but it's even harder when districts have to pay for
a Masters salary. (Truth be told, it's only a few hundred
bucks extra in my paycheck).
I would advise to go back after your first year, since that
first year can be tough. Once you're hired you can get
reimbursed for your classes, which is another reason to wait.
I was unmarried without children when I went for my Masters. I
think that was the best time to go because I didn't have as
much on my plate and could devote more time to school-work and
work-work.
Once you decide when you want to go, stick to it. I a lot of
my colleagues never finished, or kept putting it off and then
changed their minds. I love having my Masters. It's quite a
feeling of accomplishment to finish a graduate program.
Best of luck!
