Is it more fulfilling to teach in a low-performing school, where the children truly need you? Or is it more fulfilling to teach in a high-performing school, where students are more inherently motivated?

I've only done the former, and while I'm relatively happy, I can't help but imagine what it's like in a school where kids don't have to wonder if they will have dinner tonight. It's a struggle to get them to care about academics.

This is only my 4th year teaching. I'm still trying to figure out where I fit in.
KK This is an interesting question. I've been in both environments. My current school has a free/reduced lunch rate above 70%. I'm very happy working there.

Sara I've found both equally fulfilling. The high performing students shower you with praise and leave class having loved it and looking forward to coming back to it. It's an ego trip and they let you know you're good at your job.

But could anybody teach them? Pretty much even if they wouldn't like the class as much if someone else was teaching...See More
