Homework stresses me out more than it does them. The only homework they *might* have is spelling. They have time to work on it in class, but most of them don't have time to finish. Rosie I teach fourth grade and I do not take excuses for homework not being turned in. They have to learn responsibility some time, it is part of the adult world. I get all kinds of excuses but I just keep giving them zero's. I always tell my parents I only give homework that the children can do on their own. Parents really shouldn't be involved in it. How does assigning homework teach responsibility? It teaches compliance to authority - it doesn't teach responsibility. Responsibility is doing the right thing when you have a choice between doing the wrong thing and the ri...See More
