I've recently been working with preschoolers while finishing my degree. I love working with them and have been learning a lot but I'm having trouble controlling one of the students. Whenever he gets something in his hand he throws it. It's almost like he can't help his impulses! While working in the preschool someone is always working with him to try to prevent the throwing but there has to be a better answer! I'm scared that if I had this problem in my own classroom I wouldn't be able to watch one student constantly. I'm also getting nervous that he is going to hurt someone or himself by throwing things and I don't think that is his intention.

Any ideas that you have would be very helpful to try to control his behavior! I don't want to have to continue to duck during class!!

Thanks, EJ
Leah Hi EJ, I thought "men" offered some excellent advice on the pre-school chatboard. I would do what he/she suggested

No one gave me techniques to help with a tudent that threw things, bit etc. The student showed other signs that he might be autistic. You should talk to a spec. ed teacher, the administration (if they are accessible.) I plan to take classes to help when students are more aggr...See More
