I am a junior in college studying to be a Speech Language Pathologist. When I am home for breaks I substitute in my local school district. Previously I have only subbed as a paraprofessional or a teacher’s aide but I have recently signed up to substitute as a teacher in the lower grades (Kindergarten through second). In one of my classes at school we talked about student’s self-control and self –regulation and how they sometimes loose that when a substitute is in charge of the class. I was just looking for some advice on how to keep the class from becoming chaotic when I am subbing.

Kinders especially love to show they know the rules, procedures, etc.
