I would suggest getting a job in a good Montessori school as an
assistant. That not only would give you a better idea if that
is the right career for you but also when you do get your
training, the experience will help you IMMENSELY as you learn
the philosophy and the materials. I know a couple of interns in
my training class who had never been in a Montessori classroom
except to maybe observe a few times, and they were LOST in the
training. What came easily to me, they struggled. Neither one
are in the field now, and one didn't even make it through her
internship year. Montessori isn't for everyone. I do stress the
fact that working under an excellent lead teacher must be the
way for you to go. However, the one I worked under my first
year was so bad that I made it into a positive and said I would
never run my classroom like that when I had my own. So, I
guess, it could work both ways. maureen
