Hi, I just found out that I too will have a 1/2 next school
year. I had enough time before school was out to go observe
a veteran teacher with a 2/3. There is a lot of crossover
in academic skills in language arts. We use houton Mifflin.
Our principal has allowed her and I to align our
curruculiums to our own advantage, so where there is
crossover such as phonics or comprehension strategies, these
are taught whole class. The rest is a juggling act. Do you
have the Houghton Mifflin multiage classroom book? As far
as math goes, she worked out a deal with the other 3rd grade
teachers to take her 3rd graders durning math time, that way
the 3rd graders get the instruction they need and she can
consentrate on 2nd grade math. AS the school year starts
up and reality sets in, I would love to exchange ideas and
chat with you.
