I reccomend reading Literary Work Stations & Practice with Purpose
by Debbie Diller. She gives meaningful ideas on keeping students
engaged while practicing important literacy skills. It does take
lots of modeling and practice but it will give you the availablity
to meet with small groups. I also teach 2/3 grade split and my
students always ask when is it time for Work Stations so I know it
is something they enjoy.
