I have taught in multi-age classrooms my whole career (17 years).
Grades 3/4 are my favorite. I teach math, reading, English, and
spelling all separately. I teach SS, Science, Art, music, and
religion together. You figure out a way to make it work. I
usually have "seat work" for one grade. I teach the other math,
then go back to the first grade and teach them reading. You don't
have much free time during the day, but the kids learn so much
more. The fourth graders get review on everything they had last
year and the third graders are introduced to concepts that they
will be taught next year. I wouldn't know how to teach just one
grade. I did teach grades 1-4 for five years. That wasn't the
best situation, but I did what I could. Enjoy them!
