Re: Any one-room school teachers?

Hi.... I have had a busy, but wonderful year. It was nice to see all of your responses. Let me tell you a little more about our school. First of all, in Wisconsin, our school is under the private school realm. Our local public school superintendent steered us to the area we needed to go as far as the state was concerned. It turned out to be minimal. Our requirement is that we have 875 hours of instructional time each year and that we conduct monthly fire drills. We are a Lutheran school, so each day the pastor teaches Bible study/music as our first class. This gives me time for administrative work and prep work. I have volunteers who help with grading papers, doing copy work, and library work. I tried having volunteers come in for noon recess, but truthfully, I enjoy being outside with the kids. That way we incorporate our Phy ed times. I get a lot of good ideas from this site from all the chatboards. I have to adjust them all for our uniques situation, where classes are short and often combined. Hopefully, this board will become more active where we can brainstorm and share ideas that are special to our situation. We all love our one room school!
