Yes, I'm impressed with Missouri also! The problem is not that my kids
are not interested in PE or don't like it. PE is their favorite subject
and they are thrilled to get to the gym and have fun while learning.
They are definitely engaged in it when we have class. That is not the
issue at all. Sometimes kids can't or don't control their excitement or
body movements yet and they want to just go crazy when it's PE time.
Incentives help them think a little more about what they are doing, slow
them down and show proper conduct. Plus, I wanted to let my students
have a "Choice PE" day to where they get to pick what they want to do in
PE but it would mean so much more to them if they earned it rather than
me just giving it. This gives them this opportunity to work as a team
and earn this special day.
