Tell him to go in with a perky upbeat attitude; an I can do
anything attitude. Encourage him to speak up about wanting to
involve the community with things like incorporating Jump Rope
for Heart for the Am Heart Assoc., Field Day, Am. Cancer
Society fundraisers with bike a thons, running events. When
they ask, "Do you have any questions?" ask these: What is
your policy on parent volunteers (to assist with events listed
above), Would it be possible to start a running/fitness club?
(Not that he really has to commit to that but it shows interest
in being an active teacher in the school)If there is a local
pro sports team call them ahead of time and ask what programs
they have for schools--incentives for giving away tickets and
then ....go to the interview armed with info about how "I've
been in contact with the Phoenix Suns and they have such and
such programs I would like to incorporate." Good luck!
