After learning about Johnny Appleseed and seeing the Disney
animated story (voiced by Dennis Day), my fourth graders quickly
learned the theme song from it. Here are the words:

Oh, the Lord is good to me And so I thank the Lord For giving
me the things I need The sun and the rain and the appleseed Oh,
the Lord is good to me

For every seed I sow An apple tree will grow And there will be
apples there Enough for the whole wide world to share The Lord
is good to me Johnny Appleseed.... Amen!

I owe the Lord so much For everything I see I'm certain if, it
weren't for him, There'd be no apples on this limb Oh, He's
    been good to me.

(Actually, they only learned the first and third parts well and
usually leave out the middle part.)
