self", as a blanket statement applying to most private and public
schools.
I left an unsatisfactory, to me anyway, situation in a public
school system to go to a local non-religious private school, where
I was treated well by students, parents and administrators. That
is why I stayed almost 10 years.
As I reached and PASSED my 30th birthday, I began to seriously
consider the facts that my salary was so much less than in public
school and there was no retirement system in place. I did not
want to have to teach all my life.
I applied to a nearby public school system, NOT my former public
school system, and was offered a job in an outstanding K-8 public
school, where I happily taught for the last 20+ years of my
career. I am now happily retired with a good state retirement pension.
I had good experiences in both private and public schools. This
was my experience.
