Private School Teachers Chatboard

private school job vx. public

I have just retired from public schools ( for the reasons everyone else is: paperwork, Race to the top, lack of support, evaluations). A friend called tonight and told me about a possible job with a well known private school in our area statting in Aug. The job would be from 8-2:45 teaching 3rd grade, my favorite. I would have to drive about 25 min. or carpool with someone else. No afterschool meetings everyday: once a month. Low class size and part time assistants. They are on a regular calendar schedule with an additional fall and winter break. What are the major differences and what questions should I ask if given the opportunity. I plan to think about this seriously, even though I had not planned on a fulltime job immediately. This does sound interesting.
