First, I'd like to ask if you have any training in this area?
The reason I ask is that most states require a reading
specialist to have a Master's in Reading or Literacy. What will
your job entail? Some reading specialsts work with struggling
readers, others as literacy coaches. This job can vary greatly
depending upon administration's expectations. Some schools call
one a reading specialist, but it is more of a reading teacher,
content literacy teacher, or Title I type of position. The
"bible" you are looking for will depend upon what your position
will be.
