I believe that reading stations can work when properly set up and introduced to students. My frustration is that my principal thrust the idea of centers on us mid-year and seems to find fault with most of the activities provided at our stations. As luck would have it, she has no concrete advice/examples/suggestions of what to provide for students at the stations. The suggestions in books, including Fountas and Pinnell, don't seem to correspond to her expectations.
