I work in a 6th grade 12:1:1 class with 10 students who
have multiple disabilities. I have one child with autism,
two with ADHD and the rest with other health impairments.
The kids in the class are well below average and fall at
least four grade levels in their reading abilities which
means they are between kindergarten and 2nd grade. One of
the problems I am facing this year is based on the state
assessments. According to their cognitive ability there is
absolutely no way any of them can pass the state exams or
even read half of the questions. If I wanted to try and
focus on one idea to help and prepare them for the
assessment what do you perceive it to be?
