One week from today I will be leaving to take a group of 6 high school students to Costa Rica. Last week, one of the girls that is going with me confessed to me that she is pregnant. I am very concerned about taking her on the trip, yet her parents know and are fine with her going. The trip is paid for and it is too late to get a refund. What should I do? I have to take her with me, but what should I look out for? Suddenly my group of 6 turned into 7 and one of them is a fetus! Ahh...!
MK This is a question for your school nurse. Find out what she says. Also, you should have all necessary information (phone numbers, medical release, significant medical history including allergies, current medications w/dosages) for every student just in case of emergencies. GS I agree with the earlier post about making sure that you have full medical information, but I would say it should be from her OB/Gyn, not the school nurse. Make sure about any meds, such as folic acid and prenatal vitamins. Also, any emergency contact info - although this should be standard.
