One of our teachers discovered the IPEVO camera which is around
$70.00 compared to the ELMO's $550. Seems to work in much the
same way and is certainly budget friendly.
Many teachers at my high school have loved using document
camera's as they teach. For those of you who are as old as I
am ("Why, children I remember being in 6th grade when that
young dynamic Kennedy ran for President!") the document camera
has the best features of that old (HUGE) opaque projector and
the overhead projector---you can show pages from
books/newspapers/art pictures--- you can write on the pages and
students can follow your reasoning and work---you can connect
it to your computer and with the ELMO showed video (IPEVO
cannot). But then your LCD projector and your computer can
show video clips....
