Hi,
That sounds like a difficult situation. Do you know why the
teacher is so unhappy? Is she having difficulty with her
class, having personal troubles, just not enjoying the teaching
profession any more? It is difficult to address these types of
issues if an administrator is not willing to interject, but
have you tried to talk to her to see what the issues are? Have
you attempted to discuss this with your Principal or any other
lead teachers. A lot of students are being affected by this
teachers approach I am sure, it is definitely hard to stand by
and watch this sort of thing. Without knowing all of the
particulars, my suggestions would be to:
Attempt to speak to this teacher and see if there is any way
you and your colleagues can support her to turn her attitude
around and make the situation better.
If this is not successful, I would recruit another lead teacher
to speak with the AP and the Principal about what is going on.
Issues like this do not go away over night, but persistence and
sticking to doing what is right can produce results if you are
willing to take this fight on in the name of those students.
I'm very interested to hear more details about what is going on
if you are willing to share.
