    I had a language/ELL grad class and it is important at this age
    that they speak only the native language at home. They need that
    language as a strong base. Children this age do not have enough
    language yet. Their "base" isn't strong yet. They are still
    figuring out subject/verb agreement, plurals, etc. (Think of how
    little ones speak). They do get enough English at school. I would
    suggest to the parents plenty of playdates, etc for the summer.
    Also, they tend to lose their first language if they leave it too
    young -- and biligual children really do better in school later!
