I disagree that you "get what you pay for". I tutored this summer
and received low pay when the school paid (mandated by IEP) and
MUCH Higher pay if I could charge and parent paid (wasn't mandated
in the IEP). The kids got the same teaching/tutoring.
I have been teaching for 30 years, am a published children's author,
learning disability specialist, but you're right on one part. It
was a good deed for me to spend my summer hours tutoring children.
Perhaps that what you are trying to say is that the Learning
Resource Center, Inc has a fine program which evaluates and meets
the needs of the child.
But making $15/hour doesn't preclude good teaching/tutoring. It
just means that's the socio-economic possibility for that area.
