Is there any way you can get local businesses to donate items
to use as "prizes"? If so, perhaps you could encourage the
children to compete for these prizes by creating jewelry out of
paper (they can make beads, paper mache, etc.).
Another idea is to see if local businesses would allow you to
display the childrens' projects/works of art - will they let
the children create store window displays? Can you get some
local "celebs" (someone in the area they identify with -
radio DJ, favorite teacher, coach - that will volunteer to
judge their work?
