I just ran an art summer camp - the most exciting thing they did
was paint outside on the stairs and rocks around the school -
they brainstormed character virtues important to them (honesty,
responsibility, faithful, love, sincerity ect) and painted the
words on the step rise... we sue tempera paint - did a base coat
colour, painted the words with a different contrasting colour,
then added a few graphics per stair.... looked like a rainbow!
They were so proud and out of the 15 different projects we did -
this was voted their favurite....like grafitti with a purpose.
They also love painting the windows in their classrooms.

My theme was "painting alternative surfaces" - we painted glass.
cement, wood, rocks, stairs, acetate, foam, ceramic tiles -
anything but paper!
