Earth Day can also be about improving existing conditions
through physical activity without involving costly materials:
    * correct dificiencies in the sanitary system (dig a new
septic pit or extend the leach field, or redirect) - needs
    shovels and a plan
    * improve access to the stream (correct any damage the path
may have done, encourage use by placing flat rocks or steps
to keep users on path and not trampling plants alongside
path, also makes access safer, fix erosion)
    * put on a play with an Earth Day theme (music and dance
often soften the message) - face paint, a narrator, and a
flute (?) can suffice instead of costly costumes or sets
    * have a team competition, but one that showcases
reuse/recycling (refilling bottles relay, creating a
reusable item out of discards, plant a weed relay to shore-
up an eroded spot, write a poem in 2 minutes then read it
aloud for fun and maybe a prize)
To our sibling alpine lake fans, I wish you well. Hope this
    helps.
