I bought a chinchilla for a classroom pet but ended up keeping him
at home. They are lightning fast; picture trying to capture a wild
squirrel in your room if it ever got loose. They are delicate.
They are nocturnal, and really need to sleep during the day. They
are actually the perfect pet if you do work all day, because they
are ready to play at about 7:30 p.m. They can't tolerate heat
above 75 degrees F. Not a good classroom pet.
