I strongly considered getting a rabbit for my classroom but instead, I
purchased a tiny four pound dog. He is being obedience trained this
summer to be ready for school. His breed is hypo-allergenic, he will go
home with me daily and on holidays. I took him to school the last few
days this year and the children we SO well behaved, in hopes they could
be the next one to take him outside or to hold him on their laps as they
worked. He is being crate trained and will be in his crate when we're
not in the room or are otherwise unavailable to him. On days when the
weather is too bad, or our schedule is very different, I'll just leave
him at home. I think he will have a real calming effect on the class,
and be a bit of comfort to those who need that.
