I am curious as to what a good classroom pet would be? Does it depend on the age of the students? Is it really necessary to have a classroom pet? Also, if you have a classroom pet, do you allow students to alternate and take it home with them? Thank You!
DD I think Talula had it right. If you want a classroom pet, get whatever kind you want as long as it's child-friendly. All children, no matter how young or old can benefit from the experience. Kaylie I love my students, but there's no way I'd let them take our classroom pet crab Billy Joe home. Classroom pets are ultimately the teacher's responsibility. In the classroom environment, you can be sure the pet is treated right and not abused or neglected.
