I have had finches for years. Once they reach maturity (4
months) they lay eggs and raise their young. This is a
great experience for the kids. They are also great
barometers, if the class gets to loud the birds get loud
and this quiets the kids down (as long as you teach them
about the birds and teach them that they are from the
rainforest and they like it somewhat quiet. When it gets
to loud it scares them.)They are flock birds, I always have
at least 4 in a flight cage.
